HAND QUILTING

My grandmother told me that a quilter's stitch was unique to the individual, as is a signature. That perspective frees me to be expressive and satisfied by the process.

Saying that I am from the Liberated School of Design reflects Gwen Marston's influence on my quiltmaking. I take a liberated approach to the hand quilting, as well as the piecing.

"I soon understood quilting played as important a role in the success of a quilt as did the design of the top itself."  _____Gwen Marston in A Common Thread, 2016

"Quilting is a form of drawing as it deals primarily with line." ___Michael James

"When an object is developed by human hands for hundreds of hours, it leaves a quality in the surface that can be sensed." ___Sophia Narrett embroidery artist
